INFAMY, INFAMY…
We have been featured in books, magazines and newspapers. Mostly as just one small part of brilliant Bridge Street or bary Berwick or the beautiful Borders (we include north Northumberland in that), but sometimes purely on our own merits (which is really nice). We’ve been alluded to, in passing, in a novel. We’ve even inspired examination submission artwork and that’s just amaizing.
We were one of a group of local traders to whom HM The Queen was presented (?) and there’s a video of that knocking about somewhere. In answer to the inevitable question: She doesn’t come here often but she does work very hard.
In the Bridge Street, Berwick episode of ‘a-day-in-the-life-of-a-street’ kind of series on Border TV (ask your gran, on second thoughts ask your great-gran) we were part of the supporting cast to the inimitable but late and very legendary George Ritchie (The Music Shop). Again, damning motion picture evidence exists. George: we miss you!
Bunging old clippings and stillies on here seems a bit of a faff, so now it’s movie time…
Here’s a recent thing. When Starsky & Hutch (Environmental Explorers) came to town in June 2022:
Check out Martin Hutchinson on Facebook (sorry, I don’t know how to do an effbook link for him without loads of code appearing).
Dunno what the next bit has to do with ‘Fame’, except that we love ’em to bits and they have the tenuous follow-on connection of being ‘movies’. Enjoy:
Two Christmas animated vids done for the shop by our lad Mark Boston and featuring Mayra Hernandez-Rios‘ superb painting (and hands-on assistance in 2016). First up:
and our absolute favourite thing ever (thanks again Mark Boston and Mayra Hernandez-Rios e-mail: maydream1011@gmail.com):
WOW, those are proper crackers!
Just 3 and 6 years ago and such a lot of those brands have gone (from The Green Shop’s stock). No longer reaching our standards. It shows how quickly a lot can change and a picture be thoroughly out-of-date.
Man, it’s a bummer having effics.
